Mathias Alt, Principal Consultant – Procurement
Mathias Alt founded GetAhead Pte. Ltd. during his midcareer MBA in California to meet the growing demand of companies for relocating and diversifying their supply chains in Asia. With a background in Engineering and Management, Alt’s career focused on automotive procurement, with global sourcing responsibility for Electronics and Connectivity components of Volkswagen Group. Mathias Alt was instrumental in maintaining supply capability and reducing costs for modularized parts used in high volumes across car lines of VW, Audi, Škoda, and Porsche brands. In VW’s Procurement Department for New Products, he was responsible for technical changes and ramp-ups of metal parts and welded assemblies. Additionally, Mathias Alt managed Volkswagen’s procurement projects in China for mid and full-size segment car lines during their development phases. A major milestone was to negotiate and reach an agreement with VW’s Joint Ventures in China to form a buying group and consolidate procurement volumes.
Johannes Oehler, Principal Consultant – Procurement
Johannes Oehler brings extensive expertise in procurement, project- and supply chain management within the automotive, logistics and energy infrastructure industry. His tenure at Volkswagen AG was marked by significant roles, including serving as Executive Assistant to the Group Head for High Voltage Battery Procurement. This role involved strategic decision-making in Group Purchasing for HV Batteries and Mid- & Fullsize models, contributing to the procurement of critical components for high quality models like VW Touareg and VW Arteon. Later, as a Senior Manager for projects with focus on HV Battery in automotive and logistics sector, Oehler led projects in supplier management and quality assurance, emphasizing his skill in EV battery systems as an external consultant. Additionally he served as strategic procurement support for electrical infrastructure projects within the public sector. His proficiency in negotiation and process optimization highlights his ability to handle diverse procurement categories in diverse environments effectively.
Johannes Janssen, Supplier Quality Assurance & Development
Johannes Janssen joined GetAhead with over 25 years of global procurement expertise. His career has been marked by significant contributions in supplier scouting and production monitoring for the Volkswagen Group, primarily in Asia. Janssen’s proficiency spans a wide array of procurement categories, including metal sheet, casting parts, and advanced materials like composites. Since the early 1990s, he has played a pivotal role in expanding Volkswagen’s supply chain into new and emerging markets such as China, India, and Malaysia. This expansion included key positions like leading the supplier audits at Skoda Mlada Boleslav from 1998 to 2000 and heading supplier audit and component sampling at VW India’s Pune Plant between 2009 and 2012. Janssen’s responsibilities also involved overseeing supplier audits for the VW Group in Wolfsburg, scouting opportunities in ASEAN, Iran, and Russia from 2012 to 2015, and managing group quality assurance for production readiness at VW China in Beijing until 2017. Based in Vietnam, Johannes Janssen oversees GetAhead’s local QA activities in Southeast Asia and India.
