Following weeks of exchanges with its clients and supplier research, GetAhead has embarked on factory visits to India by end of February to visit shortlisted suppliers. Cities called on included Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad and Jalgaon, each having their charm and astonishing with recent developments.

Through extensive screenings, GetAhead built a list of high quality suppliers for the client. Assessment criteria among others included achieved quality management and R&D standards as well as project management standards and quality of goods. As a result, GetAhead could greatly reduce the efforts and time from client’s end. The pre-selected Indian businesses were competent and experienced, from introduction to coordination of travels and factory tours, proving their professionalism.

An insight gained was the transformation of the country and the manufacturing industry – an initiative that is clearly supported by India’s government. Many advancements can be observed from India’s manufacturing industries, which is expected to reach revenue of US $1 trillion by 2025. Substantially, GetAhead noticed that many SMEs which focused on domestic and emerging markets so far are keen to explore western markets. Copious inquiries were made to GetAhead to support exporting activities, with many suppliers expressing interest in long-term partnerships.

In recent years, India’s main exports had seen mostly pearls, precious and semi precious stones,  pharmaceutical products, machinery, petroleum products, electrical, electronic equipment being the top few categories, with US being the top export partner. In Januaury 2023, the increase in India’s year-by-year exports of 1.43% was explained primarily by an increase in exports to US, further showing the shift of demand from South and South East Asian countries like India.
